Senior Design Project

(Team Leader from August 2021 - May 2022)

Transportation Infrastructure Perception Data Fusion and Detection Using AI Technology

The project sought to design a comprehensive traffic monitoring platform that utilizes a variety of sensors including LiDAR, 360 camera, stereo depth camera, thermal cameras, and radar for reliably detecting and tracking vehicles and pedestrians. The raw data from these devices will be cleansed through several processes and stored on a database where machine learning and data fusion techniques are utilized to make traffic regulation decisions based on collected data.

My Experience

As the year-long leader of the UNCC_TRAN2 group, consisting of 6 students from the Lee College of Engineering at UNC Charlotte, I am grateful for the skills and practices I gained and improved upon from this role.

Working alongside a mentor, Professor Lei Zhu, I was fully emersed in the managing of tasks, timelines, and processes that were accomplished daily by each member of the group. Communicating with the project sponsor, the UNC Charlotte Civil Engineering & Engineering Management Department, we were able to provide a prototype towards the end of the project to allow a smooth transition into the next phase of the project: improving the data conversion algorithms through AI learning and data tracking.

Atlas Copco AED Research Project

(Team Member from 2022 June - August)

Associated Equipment Dealers Overview

Ths project sought to discover product comparisons, availability, annual revenue, and location counts of each business connected to Atlas Copco's suppliers, dealers, or competitors. A presentation was expected.

My Experience

Working in a group of 2, this research opportunity assigned by the management team proved very informative and provided a deeper insight into the generation and flow technologies emerging & competing around the globe.

Working alongside my teammate, Ayush Punjabi, we went through the tedious task of collecting data from over 1000 company sites, reports, and documentation throughout the web and importing it into Excel.

Once that task was complete, the data was then stretched to provide numbers that the showed company's exposure of lack there of throughout the regions of the United States (as shown on the left), and other destinations in North America.

Atlas Copco Deliverable

(Team Leader from 2022 June - August)

Intern Video

Ths project sought to bring together the 17 Atlas Copco Summer interns of 2022 to give feedback and thoughts on their internship experience. The expectation was a video. We made a production.

My Experience

As the short-term leader of the interns, I am grateful for the skills and practices I gained and improved upon from this role.

Working alongside my manager, Felipe Aguilar, I was responsible for the majority of Power & Light product material documentation and revisions due to my engineering degree. Luckily, I was also able to practice my Film degree and gain valuable experience managing a large team to achieve a project deliverable.

Given 3 months, I started right away and applied everyone's ideas towards the end result. Within the first week of the internship, I led the brainstorming session to set ideas and create a detailed plan for recording clips, editing, providing verbal feedback, and revision prior to the completion date. I took 100% responsibility for the videography, editing, and producing this project.
